Have you ever dreamed of quitting your day job and pursuing your passion full-time? That's what I did in 2023, and I couldn't be happier. In this blog post, I'll share with you how I made the transition from working for entertainment companies to creating my own acts for street theatre and events.
What I do: singing and movement performance
I've always loved singing and dancing since I was a little girl. I studied classical singing and further specialized in jazz and improvisation. I also learned stiltwalking and aerial hoop. I love combining singing with movement performance, creating unique and captivating shows that mesmerize the audience.
Until last year, I performed a lot for entertainment companies next to my daytime job, but I felt like I was missing something. I wanted to have more creative control over my work, and to express myself in my own way. That's why I decided to become a full-time freelancer, and start creating my own acts for street theatre and events next to the wonderful jobs with companies such as Strange People, The Cast ...
My first act: Melodia
My first act is called Melodia. It's a musical singing statue act, Melodia is a fairylike creature in a long red dress and flowers in her hair. She sings enchanting melodies in different languages, sometimes improvising over soundscapes. When not singing, she moves gracefully, interacting with the audience.
Melodia is a hit with people of all ages. They love taking pictures of and with her, and listening to her soothing voice. She's perfect for family festivals and street theatre, where she creates a magical atmosphere. For business events, she can be adjusted to the setting. She can perform outdoors in a forest, a meadow, or a garden, or indoors as a special act in a maze, parcours, or flying down from the ceiling.
I am super excited about discovering new places and bringing the musical magic to the people. Melodia is just the beginning of my journey as a full-time freelancer. I have many more ideas for new acts that I can't wait to share with you.
